THOUGHTS FROM THE OVERGROWTH

Disconnected from inside and all of a sudden i was back outside. In a similar position as before, only this time laying flat on my belly with outstreached arms. I began dragging myself slowly and it has to be said somewhat painfully, along a pavement crowded with bemused onlookers. In my heart of hearts and with eyes clenched shut i heard their adulation grow from the rumble of small roar to a cathartic wave of communal ecstasy, but deep down i suspected I was merely a cruel joke upon the lips of a disdainful stranger.

Slowly, painfully but surely i made my way, inch by brutal inch, derided upon all sides by a horde of enemies, foaming at the mouth with the scent of blood wafting through their nasal hair. Using my outstreached arms I crawled onwards and upwards, already far too entrenched in the swirling mists of the adyss to even begin to contemplate turning back and before long i felt myself pelted with various foodstuffs.
"Half the world starves".
I scrawled upon a cold concrete slab beneath my eyes.
"While inside the other half", concluded I, with a marker pen i had stolen.
"Clinically obese friends use food as a weapon".
Nearing a corner i felt the derision fade as the attention of the mob found some other shiny multi-coloured magic beans of distraction onto which to pin their various self-loathings, insecurities and downright fears. A huge concrete monstrosity of a building, stained in grey and blocking out the sun; along with it the lush green of the grass and the plastic forks, plastic salad containers and plastic people i had earlier witnessed squirming beneath it. It was the sort of small road ignored completley by the good people. The only other souls trudging through the shade condemned to only ever purchase clothing when they find something that fits. I sat against the giant, square stained grey of the building and thought how humorous it was to be the clown at midnight. The cracked and dirty mirror and the slow fade of the applause.
Across the street a small pigeon tried in vain to claw tire track chewing gum from the floor.
